Youth Committee Meeting held at
6:00pm on Thursday 22nd September 2022 at the Rings Community Hub

Present: Cllrs Watson (Chairman), Patterson.

In attendance: J McGeeney and Cllr Irwin (ex officio).

  1. Housekeeping: The Chairman advised those present of the emergency escape procedures. It was requested that mobile phones be switched to silent. If a call was received and had to be taken Members were politely requested to leave the room.

  2. Apologies for Absence: Cllrs Emmerson and Fryer.

  3. Declaration of Interests: None

  4. Youth Provision – Corner House Project – Following the presentation by Corner House at the Town Council meeting held on 19th July, consideration was given to the youth provision at the Rings Community Hub. The Town Council had, in the past, appointed youth leaders and youth support workers, however due to covid and the Hub closing for a long period of time their contracts had been terminated. A recent readvertisement of the posts had proved unsuccessful. Corner House had recently moved from the Ingleby Barwick Community Centre to the Rings Community Hub on a fortnightly basis and was funded until the end of March 2023. Details of the costings to fund the non-provision weeks had been submitted and compared with the costs of funding or employing youth staff were considered. It was considered that by using Corner House Youth Project, a well established organisation, with experienced youth workers provided the Town Council with value for money, shared risk and a continued service in the event of holidays and sickness. RECOMMENDED that Corner House Youth Project be funded by the Town Council to complement its existing arrangement by providing a weekly provision at the Rings Community Hub.

The meeting ended at 6.50pm
